WoW Bear armor changes coming in 3.0.4,wow 3.0.4 patch

Hi, Feral fans! When last we met to talk about a big Ghostcrawler post, he previewed that they were working on  the WOW bear armor changes bonus so it didn't work on jewelry, cloaks, and weapons any more, and on doing something about feral attack power (as seen on feral staves). He didn't have details at the time, but said he'd get back to us. As GC is a crab of his word, he's now come back to let us know exactly what's going to happen, and when.

• Only cloth and leather armor (excluding capes) will benefit from the armor multiplier on bear forms. This means armor from trinkets, rings, necks, and weapons will not be multiplied. However, Survival of the Fittest is gaining the additional effect of adding an additional 22/33/66% to your armor from cloth/leather.Net armor should stay the same.

• Feral attack power will be removed. Instead, attack power in feral forms will scale based on weapon DPS. As with the armor change, this should make no actual difference to your performance - the conversion will be such that your DPS remains the same.What it does do is make it so some staves might be useful to both hunters and druids (for instance), or some two-handed maces might be useful to feral druids. In Ghostcrawler's words: "This does not mean we are no longer going to create bear and cat weapons, just that those weapons will be slightly less niche than they are now."

These WoW Bear armor changes  will be coming sometime before 3.1 (Ulduar), which I've been referring to as wow 3.0.4 patch(though perhaps 3.0.x would be more accurate).

Both great changes in my opinion; the wow bear armor change should give us more viable options for tanking jewelry and weapons, instead of being forced to hold on to whatever has armor. And the FAP change will just mean we don't always have to DE a feral piece if the one or two ferals in the raid already have it; and conversely, there won't necessarily be only one weapon in a given raid that's of use to ferals (I'm looking at you, Stranglestaff).

MMORPG.com World of Warcraft Correspondent James Alderman writes this quick look at the WOW Beachhead zones in the recent Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
Welcome to the war against the Lich King. Upon arrival to the Howling Fjord, whether it's at the Horde or Alliance starting town, you will immediately see an active battleground. The Scourge and their Vyrkul allies constantly send forces to attack both Valgarde and New Agamand and the first quests you will receive upon arrival will throw you right into the action.
For the Alliance, the first major quest line you will be involved with is "Hell Has Frozen Over," which immediately pits you against the Vyrkul that are attacking the walls of Valgarde. This is the quest that will nab you the first green items (assuming one doesn't drop off the Vyrkul you kill) you will see in the expansion. Surprisingly enough, the green items you will first see are not much better than Karazhan epics. In fact, if you are completely Karazhan geared, you most likely won't be replacing your gear until you hit level 72 or 73. This is a big difference from the transition from WoW Classic to the Burning Crusade, as players with Black Wing Lair gear started replacing their epics as soon as they started doing Hellfire Peninsula with random green item drops. In Wrath, however, your epics will last you quite some time; the same goes for Arena gear for Seasons 3 and up.
Ember Clutch is afflicted by a perpetual forest fire, brought on by the Vyrkul.
In Valgarde, players will be re-introduced to Tirion Fordring, who is now the new incarnation of the Ashbringer and wields the legendary sword. Fordring has come a long way from when you last saw him, and he now leads the Argent Dawn and the Knights of the Silver Hand against Arthas. Unfortunately, the two factions have merged into the Argent Crusade, giving you (you guessed it!) yet another faction to grind up from neutral to exalted with.
On the Horde side, the first place you will see is Vengeance Landing, a site controlled by the Hand of Vengeance, a faction of the Forsaken sent to Northrend by Sylvanas for the specific purpose of overseeing the release of the Forsaken's "New Plague," which Horde players have periodically assisted with via quest lines. Some of you know where that plot thread eventually leads, but I won't spoil it for the rest of you. Just like the Argent Crusade, the Hand of Vengeance is another faction to grind up to exalted, with some decent rewards for doing so.
One of the first quest lines you will take up as a Horde player will begin with a quest called "War is Hell," which will pit you against a group of Alliance battle ships off the coast of New Agamand, which have been attacking the Forsaken for several days. Upon completion of this quest line, you are immediately introduced to Prince Keleseth, the first boss of Utgarde Keep and see a cut scene that spills a lot of lore.
Again, players who are geared in tier 5-equivelent equipment will not be seeing any big gear upgrades, but the quests completed here do net a sizeable amount of experience and reputation so they are very much worth completing.
There are several quests and encounters in Howling Fjord that serve as previews to things you will see in other zones at higher levels. Everywhere in the Fjord you will see servants of Arthas and discussion of plot points that you won't see culminate until you reach Icecrown Glacier; Tirion Fordring will eventually move from the Fjord to Icecrown, for example.
An Alliance quest line that starts with "The Explorer's League Outpost" will eventually take the player to Baelgun's Excavation site, where the player will encounter Loken, the final boss of Halls of Lightning and a major lore character.
Both factions will visit Whisper Gulch through quests; the Horde will gain a quest called "Brains! Brains! Brains!" and the Alliance will get "Danger! Explosives!" Whisper Gulch is a site where you will find a whole slew of insane dwarves. Adding to the creepy atmosphere, you will receive several whispers from "Unknown Voices," giving you encouraging remarks such as "you are a pawn of forces unseen," or "there is no escape. Not in this life, not in the next." For those of you who have been in the Temple of Ahn'Quiraj, you've encountered this sort of thing before, as C'thun will periodically whisper similar menacing messages to you. This ties in with a plot thread you will encounter later on in the Grizzly Hills, and again in Azjol-Nerub relating to an Old God who has awakened and is starting to gather up followers.
Utgarde Keep can be seen in the distance from both Valgarde and New Agamand, a constant reminder of the threat from the Vyrkul and their Scourge masters. Players just starting out in Northrend can immediately go straight into Utgarde Keep, as it is designed for players ranged from level 70 to 72. It has three bosses and is designed to be a short run, possibly taking less than 45 minutes to complete assuming everyone does their job well and there are no wipes.
Both factions have two quests that will lead players into Utgarde. The Alliance quests are "Disarmament" and "Into Utgarde!" which ask players to steal Vrykul axes and kill the final boss of Utgarde Keep, respectfully. The Horde quests are "A Score to Settle" and "Ingvar Must Die!" which have players kill the first and last bosses of the Keep, respectfully. Both quests will net a decent amount of experience and reputation, so even if the rewards aren't quite upgrades for you, they're still worth doing.
This was just a quick WoW Beachhead Zone overview of some of the highlights you will see in the Howling Fjord, but this does not even begin to cover everything you will see and do. Blizzard did a very good job in designing their new starting zones, and this is only the beginning of what promises to be a very fun and exciting expansion.

Craig Morrison, Game Director for Age of Conan has written a letter to the Conan community where he details plans for the near future of the game, including the AOC DirectX 10 version of the game coming in the next aoc major update, as well as new dungeons, the Tarantia Commons outdoor playfield, improvements to the game's itemization and statistics, and more.

With the latest game update launched and on the live servers I thought it was a good time to catch up with you all and let you know what is on the horizon for the coming game updates and give you all a general status update.

With the new PVP systems now in place and Ymir's Pass now available for you to explore we move on to the next major additions to the game. I'll talk a little about the immediate plans for the next update as well as covering the things you can expect to see relatively early next year.

We are now preparing to take the aoc DirectX 10 version of the game from our internal testing servers out to the public test servers, so you can see it for yourselves. The next major aoc  update will include this version of the game and make it available for everyone with the appropriate hardware to enjoy. Since the outset we have been determined that the new aoc  DirectX 10 functionality would not just be a ‘gimmick' addition to the game and would add visual quality to the game, we feel that the version we are preparing now for testing does achieve this and in a way that will find the right balance between visuals and performance. We have also gone to great lengths to try and make virtually all the DirectX10 features customizable so that you can find the right balance between features for the performance level of your hardware. What we did not want to do was push this version out too early and not see the real added benefits this technology can bring. I am really looking forward to players getting to experience some of the new visual improvements that this new technology allows. It really brings an even further splendor to the game world.

             Keep your eyes out for the announcement of when the update will hit the public test servers so that you can try it out for yourselves!

In terms of game content we will have two brand new dungeon locations in the next aoc major  update. Situated in Thunder River both will be aimed at maximum level players. The Slaughter House Cellar is a single player level 80 instance and Xibaluku is a large team instanced dungeon aimed at the same level range. Xibaluku has a great series of new and interesting boss encounters spanning several hours of game-play. We will start to show a little more of these dungeon areas as we start to release press material for the next update shortly. Filling some of the content gaps as the highest level is one of the areas we are focusing on at the moment, and these dungeons are the start of that process.

Following on from that early in the new-year you will be seeing the Tarantia Commons outdoor playfield. As I have mentioned before we have pushed this playfield up to a higher level range than was originally announced when we first talked about this playfield. The content will now be pitched somewhere in the mid to late 70s (the designers are still tuning the mob levels slightly) and you will find yourself thrust into the middle of a dynamic storyline surrounding riots taking place in the Commons District of the city. Which side will you find yourself on in this struggle right on the King's doorsteps?  There is some really interesting combinations of storytelling and game-play going into this playfield and I think it will be a very interesting and engaging experience. We had originally intended to release this before the new dungeons, but we wanted to take a little extra time to make sure the experience was all the more compelling when we let you guys loose on it!

Lastly for today I wanted to give an overview of where we are at with the work on the itemization and statistics in the game. As I mentioned in my first letter we are already working on this area extensively. Our systems team is currently implementing the redesigned system and adjusting the formulas and templates for the various items and abilities. We hope to have the new systems available for public testing before the end of the year with a view to it going live sometime in the new-year (depending on how the testing and feedback cycles go of course). There is a lot to consider in these changes and it will require extensive testing, both internally and externally. We want to make sure that it is a positive development for the game, and finds the right balance between the power of items and statistics while still maintaining the pace and compelling nature of our combat system.

Related to this I also want to touch on the fact that while we have done some work to adjust class balance, feats and skills up until now, there will be a more comprehensive review of some or all of the classes both as part of this process and once it is done. Given we know that we are adjusting things surrounding all the systems like this we are holding on some of the adjustments required so that we can do them in a way which is consistent with the new systems. We will be looking at in depth though, and I wanted to stress that point with you all today. There are certainly some imbalances in PVP that we want to address, and it makes sense to do it hand in hand with the new system changes and not before that.

In closing I just want to thank you all for your continued support and enjoyment of the game. We are working hard to keep providing you with interesting new content and new systems to expand the game-play experience. I feel we are headed in a good direction, and I really appreciate the support and feedback from all those in our community that make it what it is today.

Wrath of the Lich king has landed and the World of Warcraft has changed. There are new talents, new builds, new gear, new areas to explore, and so on, but one of the areas that hasn't changed much is in the wow gold making techniques.

Gathering is unchanged, except for discovering the new things to gather. Demand for green drops from mobs will probably be strong for awhile since much of it is better than the epic stuff people had at level 70. Certain crafted items (especially glyphs) will sell very well and the materials to make the popular enchants and crafted items will sell very well. The only real difference here will be in exactly which crafts and enchants are popular.

So here are my guesses for wow gold earning in Wrath. Keep in mind that prices will drop as more and more people start farming Northrend.

Skinning - As always, skin everything you can. Sell the scraps, too. Keep an eye on the Auction House for which skins sell best and which hot crafting recipes require those skins. Find areas where people are just grinding away for XP and skin everything they kill.

Mining - Cobalt and Titanium await you. Engineering, Blacksmithing, and Jewelcrafting will create a demand for these ores and that demand should stay strong for a long time. Cobalt look like it's going for almost 50g for a 5 stack at the moment, on Bloodscalp. Mining should be interesting on the PvP servers...

Herbalism - Now that Wrath of the Lich King is here people will get back to raiding, which will require the usual collection of potions, created from the various herbs that you will be picking. Plus there's Inscription, which has driven the price of herbs way up, since the inscription ink come from herbs.

Right now the prices for Northred herbs are truly grim, 20-40 wow gold per herb. With much of the playerbase arriving in Northrend, gathering away, I don't think Northrend herbs will stay at that price for long, which is great for scribes, but less great for herbalists. With herbs at 20 gold a stack it costs about 4 or 8 gold to make one glyph. With herbs at 300 gold a stack...

Outland herbs, which have been cheap for some time now, might go up as the gatherers head to Northrend. If Northrend herbs are selling at 100 gold a stack, right now, how many stacks can you farm? As always, check prices on the Auction House first.

Fishing and cooking - Some fish will likely be needed for Alchemy, as well as for cooking, and some might turn out to do interesting things (such as Savory Deviate Delight.) Of course, certain foods are in demand for the buffs they provide and those foods should sell well.

Looting - As usual, keep a close eye on any white or better items you loot in your day to day monster mashing. Some of these items will be valuable. Send them to your banker to sell, don't vendor them.

Limited items - I have no doubt that there will be a number of new "limited items" appearing on various vendors. Keep an eye on these as several might sell for a very nice profit on the Auction House. Make your own list of "limited item" vendors as you travel the new lands.

Speaking of the Auction House... This really is the area where people can make some serious wow gold. There are two basic ideas here, both of which require a good understanding of the market on your server.

1. buy low and sell high is a tried and true one. Herbs for example. If an herb (or ore, or...) normally goes for 30gold a stack and you see that someone has dumped a bunch of stacks for 5 gold, buy them up and resell them (or send them to your favorite scribe.) If prices are starting to look depressed then just hold those items for a few days and keep a close eye on the AH. Post them at a higher price when the market allows.
2. Find holes in the market and fill them. If a certain glyph is rare and selling for a high price then see if you can make a few of that glyph and sell them for that high price. Same with herbs. If the market needs a few more of a certain herb, because prices are so high, go out and farm a few.

Your banker: Lastly, consider using a low level alt to do all of your buying and selling. It's less distracting than if you use your main character, plus you'll be able to focus on making gold and not spending it on better stuff.

Just make a level 1 character to be your "Banker" and run to the nearest big city and park in the Auction House. Next have your main character mail your banker some starting money (for auction fees.) Then as your other characters collect sellable loot and limited items they mail all of those items to the banker for resale.

Funcom has announced the launch of the largest free content expansion to date for Age of Conan. The new aoc content update introduces a number of new areas and adventures including Ymir's pass and The Amphitheater, a new dungeon which promises an epic confrontation.

Durham, USA - November 14th, 2008 - Funcom updated the 'Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures' live servers with the largest gameplay content addition since launch. By visiting the vast, new outdoor area of Ymir's Pass players will now be able to find new quests to solve, new characters to meet, new monsters to slay and a dramatic new storyline to unravel. The update also includes a new dungeon - The Amphitheater - that holds one of the most epic and memorable monster encounters ever created for the game.

"This is an important update that opens up a lot of new gameplay content for players who have already passed the level fifty mark," says Game Director Craig Morrison. "In the months ahead we will introduce even more new content, and coming up soon are two exciting new high-level dungeons intended for players who have reached the maximum level. At this stage adding more content and keeping people entertained is very important to us!"

This free aocYmir's Pass update is available to all 'Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures' subscribers and the content will be downloaded automatically when launching the game.
